How is this data produced?

Data for the compilation of Composite and Diffusion Indexes is obtained from the Department of Statistics Malaysia and the following agencies:

  1. Ministry of Housing and Local Government (MHLG)
  2. Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM)
  3. Road Transport Department (RTD)
  4. Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA)
  5. Employees Provident Fund (EPF)

What caveats I should bear in mind when using this data?

The economic indicators are unable to take into account internal or/and external shocks to the economy.

Malaysian Economic Indicators, Jan 2024, the latest edition of the monthly economic indicators published by DOSM. OpenDOSM also features a dashboard on these indicators.
