Annual landings, wholesale value and retail value of freshwater fish caught in public waterbodies (inland fisheries), by state and type of waterbody.

Data on landings of freshwater fish from inland fisheries in Malaysia is collected via surveys and censuses conducted by the Department of Fisheries (DOF). Inland fisheries refers to the capture of fish in public waterbodies (rivers, ex-mining pools, dams, lakes and others), as opposed to aquaculture, which is published separately. Accordingly, this data reflects landings recorded by the DOF only; fish caught by individuals for personal consumption are not included.
Wholesale and retail values are estimates of the value of the landings at wholesale and retail prices respectively, in RM.
Not every measure is published for every year: wholesale value is available from 2011, and retail value for 2012-2013 and from 2016. Sarawak has no data for 2005-2010 and Sabah none for 2007-2009, so national totals for those years exclude them; W.P. Labuan is included from 2011. National totals may be slightly different to the sum of state values, and totals to the sum of waterbodies, due to rounding.

|---|---|---|
date (Date) | Date | The date in YYYY-MM-DD format, with MM-DD set to 01-01 as the data is at annual frequency |
state (Categorical) | State | The state where the fish was landed, or Malaysia for the national total |
waterbody (Categorical) | Waterbody | The type of public waterbody: rivers, ex-mining pools, dams, lakes, others, or 'total' for all waterbodies |
measure (Categorical) | Measure | What the value measures: 'landings' (metric tonnes), 'value_wholesale' (wholesale value in RM) or 'value_retail' (retail value in RM) |
