How is this data produced?

The Services Producer Price Index (SPPI) measures the level of prices charged by 8 key services industries in Malaysia, relative to a base year (2010 = 100). Given that the services sector accounts for over 50% of Malaysia's GDP, the SPPI is an important policy indicator which helps gauge cost pressures before they reach consumers. The prices used in compilation of the SPPI include surcharges, but exclude discounts, rebates and taxes imposed on consumers. For a deeper understanding of the PPI compilation methodology and related concepts, please refer to the Technical Notes.
