How is this data produced?

This dataset is tabulated from administrative records on the notifications of infectious diseases collected by the Ministry of Health. The incidence is calculated as the number of new cases per 100,000 population, based on the most recent population estimates.

What caveats I should bear in mind when using this data?

In general, the data presented here is based on the date of report rather than the date of the event. Furthermore, there may be underreporting of cases to varying degrees depending on the disease and state.
