How is this data produced?

This data is produced by the Accountant-General's Department in compliance with the Malaysian Public Sector Accounting Standards and the IMF's Dissemination Standards. A few key relationships should be noted:

  • Net development expenditure is gross development expenditure less loan recoveries.
  • Net borrowing is gross borrowing less repayments, for both the domestic and foreign sectors.
  • The overall balance is revenue less operating expenditure less net development expenditure.
  • For stock values (such as use of assets), a positive value indicates the disposal of assets while a negative value indicates the acquisition of assets.

What caveats I should bear in mind when using this data?

Numbers may not add up due to rounding during derivation.
